Tax Controversy

New and complex tax regulations, combined with strengthened IRS enforcement policies, make it vital to properly plan for and manage IRS examinations in a proactive manner. Deloitte Tax Controversy specialists can help address the risks and costs of dealing with the IRS and explore more favorable and efficient issue resolution. Deloitte Tax Controversy specialists understand the complexity of IRS practice and procedure - many of our professionals formerly worked for the IRS and Treasury as executives, counsel, appeals officers, revenue agents, and service center managers.

  • Tax Controversy Tax Consultant Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science/Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting or Taxation, or JD or LLM Degree (with undergraduate accounting degree)
    • Minimum requirements to sit for CPA exam before beginning full-time employment preferable
    • Strong academic credentials (3.2+ GPA recommended)
    • Relevant work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
    • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
    • Experience using Microsoft Office applications

    Tax Controversy Tax Senior Consultant Qualifications
    • 2 or more years of public accounting experience or equivalent in law firms or industry.
    • Excellent Research and Writing skills a must.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field; prior Big 4 experience a plus.
    • CPA, Enrolled Agent or other appropriate certification required.
    • Advanced Degree preferred.
    • Minimal travel required.
